Free Android Development Tutorials

Free Android Development Tutorials: Yay
When I learned how to program Java, I sat down for about a month watching YouTube videos and reading tutorials trying to understand what I was seeing.  Because development is such a broad topic, and everyone thinks differently, one cannot have too many resources from which to absorb knowledge. This is why we decided to contribute to the development knowledge pool with our own How To Build an Android App series on XDA Developer TV.
Currently, Linux.com is hosting a multi-part series of developer tutorials aimed at teaching you how to learn how program an Android application. They are covering the details to include basic Java. Thus far they have released three parts:
Don’t forget to check out our own local Android development tutorials from XDA Developer TV as well.
Got any great sources to learn Android or Java programming?  Leave them in the comments down below!  Have you made your own development tutorial series?  Contact any XDA News Writer, and we will try to feature it.

Easily Resize Images for APK Mods with Android Resizer Tool: lego-digital-camera
If you have ever ported an Android app to a different screen resolution or themed it using another app’s image resources that came from a phone with a different resolution, you know how much of a hassle it can be to manually resize all the PNG files to the right dimensions. This can be especially cumbersome with NinePatch files. With Android Resizer Tool, all your PNG resizing worries should now be a thing of the past.
Developed by XDA Senior Member Peteragent5, Android Resizer Tool is a fork of the open source Android Drawable Converter project, and it allows you to automatically resize the PNG files in APKs to XHDPI, HDPI, MDPI and LDPI screen resolutions. There is also a batch file provided to further automate this process.
So what are you waiting for? Head over to the forum thread, download the tool, and follow the instructions provided to speed up your Android app porting and make it hassle-free.

HP TouchPad gets Android Jelly Bean via CM10 Preview Release:

If you were lucky enough to get an HP TouchPad this time last year during their “fire sale” for $99 (16GB) or the $149 (32GB) your Android luck hasn’t run out yet. Remember, Android first came to the HP TouchPad via CM7, Gingerbread. A few months later, Android 4.0 came to the HP TouchPad, bringing a true tablet UI to the 10″ popular slate. The CyanogenMod development community continues to grace the HP TouchPad, this time with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean showing up via an unofficial CM10 preview release.
This preview released is exactly what it says it is. A preview of things to come. WiFi seems to be working great and many apps are working as you can see from the demo video below. As of right now, audio does not work and you cannot play videos via YouTube or from the Gallery. However, you can play videos via the MX Player app (without audio). Besides those minor hiccups, Jelly Bean is buttery smooth on the TouchPad as advertised and Google Now even works!
If you’re itching to pull the trigger to give this preview release of Jelly Bean, CM10 a try, here’s how you can get started:
The following is assumed you are familiar with installing CM7 or CM9 on your HP TouchPad. Please proceed at your own risk.
PLEASE DO A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE PROCEEDING.

Download the following 4 files:
update-cm-10-20120801-UNOFFICIAL-tenderloin-not_ready_yet
GApps 7-26-2012
Modboot 0.3.5
ClockworkMod or TWRP 2.1.1
Place them in your cminstall directory on your HP TouchPad (the same directory you used to put Android on your HP Touchpad originally.)
Download the NEW ACMEInstaller v3 for CM10
ACMEInstaller v3
Connect your Touchpad to your computer via USB cable.
Reboot your TouchPad into the HP Recovery.
Launch a command prompt window. (CMD)
Navigate to the location where your ACMEINstaller3 file is located.
Type: novacom.exe boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller3
Your HP TouchPad will begin installing the CM10 preview release.
YouTube and RootzWiki user  has provided the following demonstration video and hands on installation tutorial for all to see. Thanks Roland!

Happy flashing!
